About U.S. Bank

U.S. Bank issues several small-business Visa cards. We compare the Triple Cash Rewards Visa Business Card and the Business Shield Visa Card, both revolving credit cards issued by U.S. Bank National Association and available to United States residents only. Neither charges an annual fee, employee cards are free on both, and both carry an introductory rate on purchases and on balance transfers made soon after opening.

Triple Cash Rewards pays a higher cash back rate in set categories and a base rate elsewhere. Its application lists sole proprietorship as a business structure, and U.S. Bank states that no U.S. Bank account or other relationship is needed to get the card. Business Shield is built around its intro period rather than rewards, and adds ExtendPay plans that split eligible purchases into monthly payments for a fixed monthly fee.

Business Shield's own consent page says U.S. Bank obtains a consumer credit report on the business owner because the owner may be liable for the company's obligation on the account. The Triple Cash Rewards pages read do not state personal liability or a credit check in those terms. Both cards charge a foreign transaction fee.
