Financial technology company, not a bank, running a free business checking account around a secured charge card, with a paid plan that removes transfer fees.
Best for
Internet-first businesses that never handle cash and want a full-featured free account with a paid option that removes transfer fees.
Every fee we track, grouped by where it applies.
Side-by-side with the closest alternatives by monthly fee.
Each account's published monthly fee, and the plan that fee belongs to. Where a fee can be waived, the condition is stated rather than applied. Interest is shown as the rate each account publishes, with its conditions, and never as a forecast of what you would earn.

Slash is a financial technology company rather than a bank. Banking services are provided by Column N.A., with deposits distributed across sweep program banks for cover above the single-bank limit, as pass-through insurance subject to conditions. Column is also one of Mercury's two partner banks, so holding both accounts is less diversification than the two brand names suggest.
Its free plan carries no monthly fee, no minimum balance and no account opening fee, and includes the API, virtual accounts, unlimited virtual cards and role-based permissions. The paid plan adds no banking capability: it removes the per-item charges on domestic transfers, so whether it pays for itself depends purely on how many transfers a business sends.
The account is structured around a secured charge card. Money paid into the transactional account is swept to a collateral account that secures the card, and the card balance is due in full daily, which is not how any other account in this table behaves. Slash publishes no cash deposit route and says it may not suit cash-heavy operations.
